#10. Leaving A Legacy
How will you be remembered when you die? This week’s publication explores what it means to build and leave a legacy that matters.
It’s seems like every year, someone I know passes away. With a recent death in the family, something that has been on my mind a lot has been leaving a legacy.
Leaving a legacy can involve many things. For some, leaving a legacy involves leaving behind wealth, real estate or passing on the family name or business. All of which are good things to leave behind for others, but more importantly, leaving a legacy also means, what will we be known for? How will we be remembered when our time has come and we pass away? Will our lives have had a positive, lasting impact on those around us? What about those who’ve only known us from a distance or who have only had brief interactions with us?
This isn’t to say that we should be living our lives as perpetual people pleasers or wearing ourselves out trying to impress everyone and be liked our whole lives. These types of behaviors are more about living for our own glory. Leaving a legacy is much less about ourselves, as it is more about others, and ultimately, God.
This week’s publication explores what it means to leave a legacy that matters, not from someone who has it all figured out, but from someone who has been observing and learning from others who have built and left a God honoring legacy.
